The Camden Snow Bowl
on 1,300' Ragged Mountain is just a short drive from picturesque Camden Harbor. Nowhere else in the East can you glide down challenging ski slopes while enjoying a thrilling ocean vista unknown to other Eastern slopes. Ten trails are served by a 3,100' double chairlift and two T-bars, including the longest in the state - 4,088'. Major trails are equipped with snowmaking and lighting.

Camden Hills State Park - Camden Hills State Park is two miles north of Camden on U.S. Route 1. Visitors may drive or hike to the summit of Mt. Battie for an excellent view of Camden Harbor, Penobscot Bay, and inland lakes and rivers. Mt. Megunticook, highest of the Camden Hills, is a moderate climb by foot trail. The park offers 30 miles of hiking trails with access from five major trailheads.

Sailing
- The Penobscot Bay is home to some of the finest sailing in the world. Wind Jammer cruising is hugely popular during the summer season.

Acadia National Park - the most visited National Park in the East - is less than an hour and a half up the coast on Mt. Desert Island. Simply amazing. If you go off season (October - May) it is magical.

Camden Regional Public Schools

Ashwood Waldorf School

The Riley School offers a unique and creative approach to learning. First, it matters greatly how the child constructs knowledge and learns. Then specific skills and facts become meaningful and useful tools for the child. A curriculum that supports this stance is continually evolving based upon the child's interests, needs, and experiences. This in turn nurtures the child's self-worth and creativity, encouraging her/his continued participation in the educational process.

Riley is not an exclusive learning environment but an inclusive one which uses the diversity of its children and adults to achieve a sense of genuine community. Finally, but not incidentally, Riley tries not to take itself too seriously. Knowing that laughter is a unique human gift, we support all children in gaining an enlightened and loving perspective of the human conditions Riley's campus consists of 45 acres of peaceful and beautiful open fields, woods, and shore frontage. There are six buildings: a Farmhouse (office located), a Lower School and Science Building, a spacious Library, a Creative Arts Building, a Carpentry Shop and a large Victorian Barn which is on the National Historical Register. Riley was the first Independent Elementary School established in Midcoast Maine.
